PORT MOODY, B.C. — The City of Port Moody and Edgar Development are teaming up to complete final paving work on Glenayre Drive following two major infrastructure upgrades.
According to Jeff Moi, the city’s general manager of engineering and operations, the resurfacing is part of a coordinated effort between the municipality and Edgar Development’s Portwood project. The work will finalize trench restoration from the city’s watermain replacement and the installation of BC Hydro infrastructure tied to the new development.
Moi said combining the work into a single paving phase will help reduce the overall impact on traffic and residents while improving the long-term quality of the roadway.
“This coordination allows for a single surface course of asphalt, which reduces the need for multiple paving phases, reducing overall traffic and resident impacts; and enhances long-term road quality,” Moi said in a statement.
The Portwood development, located off Cecile Drive and Angela Drive, is one of Port Moody’s largest new housing projects and includes new utilities and road infrastructure to support the growing community.
Construction signage had originally indicated that roadwork along Glenayre Drive would take place between October and November 2025. However, recent weather conditions and logistical challenges have pushed the schedule back.
The paving is now expected to be completed in spring 2026, Moi said. In the meantime, crews will carry out temporary asphalt repairs to improve road conditions before winter.
The total cost of the final paving work is estimated at $300,000 and will be shared between the City of Port Moody and Edgar Development’s Portwood project.
