Driver fled the scene after hitting a pedestrian

PORT MOODY, B.C. — Police are searching for a driver who fled the scene after striking a pedestrian in a marked crosswalk Monday evening.

Port Moody Police say the incident occurred Feb. 9 around 7:30 p.m. at the busy intersection of Guildford Way and Ioco Road.

According to investigators, the pedestrian was crossing the street when they were hit by a vehicle described as a grey sedan. The driver failed to stop and was last seen travelling southbound on Ioco Road.

The victim was transported to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

“We are appealing for any potential witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage in the area to come forward to aid our investigation,” Const. Sam Zacharias of the Port Moody Police Department said in a statement Tuesday.

Police are asking anyone with information to contact the Port Moody Police Department at 604-461-3456 and reference file 2026-593.
